Si Tanggang

Si Tanggang is a a very famous Malaysian's Traditional Children's Folk Tales. It's a story of an obedient and innocent young man who lived in a poverty stricken village with his parents. One day, he decided to sail away to other parts of the the world to make changes in their life. He waved goodbye to his parents and promised them that one day he will return with success. He began his journey to the outer world, in searching for wealth. Finally, he got married to the daughter of a very rich ship captain. Years passed by and he actually forgot that he had once promised to return home to his parents. One day, he and the ship crew was forced to stopped by near a village (which actually was his village) due to the unpromising weather. Sadly, Si Tanggang was embarrassed with his parents and refused to acknowledge them because of their haggard appearance. Causing such a heartache to them, the mother cried out and suddenly Si Tanggang was turned into stone.

That's a short review of Si Tanggang.

In fact today, there are many films, dramas, short stories about a child being ignorant and disloyal to the parents. Most of us shall respond similarly to those stories, we shall loathe the child and pity the parents. Moreover, working in the hospitals allow me to see examples of dutiful and bad child.

But, if we think back, have we ever wonder that maybe some of the 'turned out to be a bad child' don't realize they are not being the best to their parents? In fact, some of them may thought that they are actually doing the right thing for the parents. Lets just ponder...

* * *

As for us, we grow more matured as time passes by ( at least we thought that we are more mature) , after graduating, finally settling down with quite stable career. The best thing is that, we start to have our own money, we feel that we are in control of everything become less dependent than before. Confidence starts to arise and in fact we are now ready to voice out our mind. Somehow, we start to have our own style of thinking, our own life plan with our own reasons and perceptions; which may not always go parallel with our folks'.

On the other hand, our parents also are getting older and older, and of course usually they always think that they know more about life than the children based on their life experience, which is quite true. Moreover, as they get older, they tend to be more sensitive and fragile.

That is when disagreement might takes place, and subtly it will affect the emotion, perceptions and if we are not careful enough, we may without realizing had cause a slight cut and hurt their feelings.

Thus, i shall say that it is not easy to be a praiseworthy (soleh/solehah) child, as we never know how would we react in desperate circumstances. Change is a constant matter in human life, so we change, they change, the environment change.

I don't dare to say that there is nothing we can do about it, but at least,we have to bare in mind of the facts and the reality and be aware of the unwanted probabilities.

We are not perfect, in fact, nobody is perfect even the elderly, thus we have to be really smart and careful in dealing with difficult situation, but i shall say that it is not easy without the help of ALLAH The Almighty, and Most Loving. Let's pray to HIM to protect us and help us to become a good child to our parents, a good sister, a good brother, a good neighbour, wife, parents, husband --> being the best in every role that we play, or will play and the most important role of all ; being HIS servant. InsyaALLAH.

5s

As a start,i think this is going to be a very dry topic. But for the sake of trying out this new application from my new Galaxy S,just bare with me. Another thing, apart from being dry i think this entry seems like showing off. ;-)

Anyway, most pharmacy department in government hospitals are actually working hard towards some sort of accreditation (persijilan).I don't know much about this but the aim is to provide best service to the patients. So,factors that lead to problems in giving out the best service shall be eliminated. For instance, the arrangement and storage of drugs should be systematic enough so that ANYBODY even in the first week of employment can easily find the correct drug at shortest time. This applies to other aspect as well such as filing of documents, storage of departments' key and etc.Dry isn't it?

Well, what happened in Hospital Serdang was, our big boss had arranged 2 days course for us.She actually called a trainer from one training company (i guess) to guide us with methods to achieve our aim.

Ok this trainer had introduced to us a term called budaya KAIZEN which means small improvement but its continous or in Malay, peningkatan walau sedikit tetapi berterusan. It is actually originated by the Japanese culture. Now it is a commercialized culture in Malaysia. Why? because apparently, this company is being paid to promote and inculcate the culture in most of the hospital in Malaysia.

The thing is...

I find that budaya KAiZEN sounds sooo familiar..

And i realised that it reminds me of

The concept of ISTIQAMAH in Islam

A concept that has been taught to us Muslims since childhood..but somehow i did not realise the value and rewards that can be obtained (money,profit,influences,........) until i learnt about budaya KAIZEN. A Japanese culture which is being promoted extensively even to non Japanese and most importantly being practised and uphold by the Japanese themselves!

i understand if you dont get me...i think i have difficulties in expressing my points clearly lately.

So why 5s...?

(Shifaa Sangat Suke Syok Sendiri) :-P

p/s : 5s is actually another Japanese method which i don't feel like explaining.Just google them out.

Tazkirah

BLANK

I thought that i have so many exciting stories to share here, but after so many saved drafts, i end up not finishing any of them. Most of them are only halfway done. Yet, at home, i always have so many ideas to chat about; not necessarily about work, sometimes things that i listen from the radio, news, things that i see and observe, funny stories, current issues and other scoops that i find interesting. That is why i thought that i have so many things to blog out here.

Maybe this is because, i find it quite difficult to find suitable words, phrases, expressions to make sure that other people can grasp my point. Of course, it's easier for me to express the message face to face because, even if you can't find suitable words, you have expressions, tone and actions to help.

This brings me to ponder about Tazkirah (a short preach that serve as a reminder to the community). I am a dreadful person because, i am always reluctant to listen to Tazkirah .I even think that "nah, they are pretty much the same, basically you have to do good deeds and avoid doing bad stuff, most of the facts are no alien to me"

BUT

There are (but not many) number of persons whom i find that their tazkirah are quite interesting. Thinking about it i felt that the reason lies behind the elaboration of the already - known - points combined with accurate examples. These persons are able to find examples that revolves around me and other people and able to make me visualise, feel and appreciate the already - known points.

Which make me realise that, to be a preacher, you have to be observant of things around you, observant of human behavior and nature of life. Then you can explain your points by making examples using things around you. That explains why a speaker need to know their audience. Knowing the audience does not only mean knowing their occupation, level of education and monthly income, but also their lifestyle, and perceptions and even natural habit. Thus giving speech does not only mean delivering the points and facts but also being able to inspire and make make the audience appreciate those facts.

Now i know why i find it easier to tell stories to my family at home, because of course i know them very well!

These are obtainable skills whether in speaking or writing. So, nothing is impossible....

p/s: Initially, the title was supposed to be blank as i don't know what to write, but i'll change it to tazkirah...
